As per this meme, ask Lily anything you like.
OK, we all joke about Lily's boy-crazy ways. Time to spill. If it weren't for HMS Ginger, and if she could have anyone she wanted in the school -- regardless of gender, species, or plotline -- who'd it be? Like Dieter, list your top 5!
(is already sad that Homsar probably won't be on the list)
(Like good student, Lily is answering in list form. Unlike a good student, she is swearing under her breath the whole time.)
1. Sirius Black
2. Stephen Maturin
3. Robin Goodfellow
4. Daniel Jackson
5. Sarah Williams
(6. Homsar - if he can satisfy the great Sirius Black, there must be SOMETHING there, right?)
1. *lips are sealed!*
2. Ah, that's the beauty of the purely OOC meme! Though does that mean Lily also secretly had a thing for Dumbledore back in the day?
3. Socking is IN this year.
4. I wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers.
5. OMG SPECIAL HELL *drools*
(6. HMS Jengalicious FTW. If only it would happen in HH canon ... )
(Again, Lily is listing her answers. Again, also, she is muttering most unpleasant things under her breath.
1. Why: Because...bloody hell, because he's Sirius. Because he's my best mate and he's a stand up bloke and there's none better. And that's enough, isn't it?
How: Late night chatting, perhaps a bottle of Firewhisky. Talk of nothing leads, as it usually does, to talk of something. He'd kiss me first, I'd wager, but I'd return it. And then...yes. You get the idea.
2. Why: He's rather handsome, isn't he? And there's just something extremely attractive about an authority figure.
How: I'd imagine ECR would play an important factor. Perhaps an experiment on the dreaded Evil Clowns goes wrong and we're both
3. Why: Handsome, suave, a wonderful listener, intelligent... I believe a better question would be 'why not'. (
How: Comfort-sex. (What?
4. Why: Hot and intelligent. Two of my favourite things.
How: I'd imagine alcohol would be a slight factor, but it could also be an intense discussion of alien culture in relation to magical theory of time travel. (
5. Why: Hot and intelligent. Oh, and no refractory period.
How: Alcohol. Much alcohol.
(6. Why: Do I even need to answer this?
How: Our eyes meet over a board game. His hat twirls, my heart melts. It's love at firt bibble. He had me at 'Kashooo'. I stroke his 'O' and the world explodes into passion and fire. Jenga, mate, pure Jenga. Afterward, we cuddle. And by 'cuddle' I mean play a lazy game of Life.)
He's sodding incredible in bed.
*pauses* *the potion compels her*
He's a good man. And I'm not talking about the typical 'decent bloke, middle of the road' type that most men fall under. He's one of the best I've ever met. He's kind. He never treats me like I'm substandard or below his notice. He smiles when he sees me.
He cares, so intently - though he'd kill me if he knew I knew. *smiles a little* He's brilliant, and he knows it. But the smallest bit of affection, he acts as though I'd given him the world. He makes me laugh. He makes me happy.
And he's not a gigantic marshmallow wearing a bowler hat, so I think he has Homsar beat, yeah?
Aha. Clearly there are two Coxes at the school. One of them is an angry, miserable sod with a drinking problem and tendencies towards physical violence who enjoys making other people just as unhappy as he is. The other one is the one you're dating.
If these Coxes are in fact one and the same, how do you reconcile them? And how do you explain the fact that everyone at the school besides you (and Sirius, I suppose) has only met Angry!Cox rather than Sensitive!Cox?
I can't possibly believe someone like him is good in bed, by the way.
*sighs* Oh, I've met the angry, violent, drinking one. He broke a desk once, during a fight. I'm not saying the bloke doesn't have his issues. He does. But, Remus, honestly - it's like he feels he has to be a certain way. He's been hurt, he's been broken, and so he stuffs all of the feelings he might have away and just is angry. Because anger is easier. And it's easier for him if people don't like him - less work. Less of a chance he'll really get involved with someone, and that person will hurt him again.
He's...he's terrified. *mutters* Oh, sodding hell, he'd flay me alive if he knew I was telling you all of this.
*the potion pushes her, however*
And I really think he's convinced himself he doesn't need anyone. If he doesn't need anyone, then why should he give a flying bowtruckle about what anyone else thinks? And if he doesn't care what people think, then why not just be as unpleasant as possible? Cause that's easier than caring, it's easier than being vulnerable.
But I've seen him be vulnerable. He is with me. I - I honestly don't know why. But the man behind all of the ranting and the posturing and the anger - he's brilliant.
And trust me, mate. He's amazingly good in bed. He...let's just say he knows how to channel all of that rage quite well.
Lily, who was not happy
Then, with a sigh, she answered through gritted teeth. "I honestly don't know for sure, but at this point I couldn't rule it out. Not because I've thought about it before - because I wasn't lying, I really have never, even for a second, considered you in that fashion - but because of the conversation we had earlier. You strike me as different now that what I've known of you before, and I can't say for sure how I'd feel about you in some hypothetical future."
Snorting slightly, she rolled her eyes. "Happy?" she muttered.
She gave him an incredulous look. "You want more than that? Sodding hell."
Grumbling under her breath for a moment, Lily studied him. "That's a loaded question. What do you need to know about a person to make that kind of decision? I'd have to have a sense of what sort of man you are; and what sort of purpose you were pursuing. What were your dreams and hopes and what sorts of things were you willing to do to achieve them. What was important to you. Who were you loyal to. What kind of baggage you were carrying with you. How you'd treat me; how you'd act towards my son and my mates. How honest you'd be with me. How much I could trust you."
Making a noise of frustration, Lily shrugged a little and sighed. "I don't know - that enough for you?"
Ed remained speechless for a moment, trying to think of how to answer that. "I... haven't had much of a chance to think about anything other than just... fixing things for a long time and I already died once trying to do that. And you already kind of know what baggage I've got. And I'd never have any reason to lie to you as long as I could trust you." He nodded solemnly and looked to Lily, as if to ask, What else?
